Welcome from the Gold Coast Mayor

Ron Clarke

As Mayor of Gold Coast City, I'm delighted to welcome the Australian Property Institute delegates to the Gold Coast for this year's Queensland Property Conference.

Of recent years, the Gold Coast has enjoyed increasing popularity as a conference destination and it's not difficult to see why. With an abundance of world class conference facilities complemented by an almost limitless range of recreational options, our city is the perfect venue for both work and play.

And it seems particularly pertinent that the Queensland Property Conference should be held on the Gold Coast, which remains one of the fastest-growing areas in the country. Adjusting to such rapid and sustained growth and expansion has heralded a new and exciting phase for the Gold Coast, which has seen the establishment of the State’s first desalination plant and planning for the city's rapid transit system, to name only two innovations.

Although renowned for beachside high rise buildings, the Gold Coast in fact is home to a diverse range of architecture and property types, and has been described as offering the broadest range of residential property in Australia. Although still young, the Gold Coast is continually evolving, and as such remains one of the country’s most vibrant and interesting cities.

I trust that you'll have the opportunity to enjoy some of our famous attractions while you’re here - our golden coastline, the picturesque hinterland, theme parks and of course our award-winning restaurants and renowned retail outlets.

May I wish you every success with this year's conference - may it be a productive and inspiring experience for all of you.

Welcome from the Organising Committee

Daniela Hardwick

On behalf of the Conference Organising Committee, it is my great pleasure in welcoming you to this year's Queensland Property Conference to be held at Conrad Jupiters on the Gold Coast. We anticipate this year’s conference to be just as successful as last year's event which amassed a record number of over 700 attendees.

The conference committee has spent countless hours developing this year’s program and I would like to thank them for their contribution over the past year – their commitment has been commendable. The team included myself alongside:

  • Lisa Duncan aapi
  • Matthew Gould aapi of Savills Australia, Sunshine Coast
  • Laurie Hamilton aapi of Taylor Byrne, Gold Coast and
  • Luke Nichols aapi of Herron Todd White, Gold Coast

I would also like to acknowledge the tremendous involvement of the Institute’s Executive Officer - Andrew Bell who has translated our ideas and contributions into the outstanding event I hope to see you at in November.

This year's program is crammed with dynamic speakers addressing topical issues such as the "global credit crunch", climate change & carbon trading, an overview of our economy; interest rates and the Australian dollar, rising construction costs and major infrastructure projects in Queensland to name a few. A not to be missed session is the annual motivational address on Saturday morning featuring Australia’s triple Olympian, sensational swimmer - Grant Hackett.

Don't miss this great opportunity to network with your fellow colleagues and gain knowledge on selected issues presented by experts at the top of their field.

Once again, this year's conference will be based at the ever-alluring Conrad Jupiters. It is a fantastic location and I encourage you to take this opportunity to participate in an exceptional conference whilst enjoying the fabulous Gold Coast.
