In 2011, the Queensland Division offered two Awards as part of our Excellence in Property Awards. The Awards were presented at the API's Queensland Property Conference on 28 October 2011.
The API would like to thank the Australian Valuation Office for their support of the 2011 Queensland Excellence in Property Awards.
The first Award, the Property Industry Award, is awarded to an individual or team in public or private practice who have demonstrated the qualities of leadership and vision that lead to a change in the property industry in the interests of either property practitioners and/or the community at large.
Whilst the judges were impressed with the quality of entries received for 2011 Property Industry Award, the judges felt that the nominees did not demonstrate the key requirement of this award, being a change in the property industry in the interests of either property practitioners and/or the community at large. As a result, the judges decided not to present this particular Award in 2011.
Jevon Turner was named the winner of the API Queensland Award for Young Achiever of the Year.
The Young Achiever Award is given to an individual who has, at an early stage in their professional career, achieved outstanding performance in property through their contribution to their organisation and/or the property industry.
Mr Turner is currently the Manager of Business Risk & Compliance with Herron Todd White (HTW) and the Company Secretary of HTW’s environmental broker company. Jevon has been working in the property industry since 2007 and in that time he has contributed to its consistency, clarity and overall improvement.
Over the last two years Jevon has directly assisted in the review of the PropertyPro Residential Valuation and Security Pro-Forma Supporting Memorandum. This is a major project undertaken by the API. Specifically, Jevon has redrafted the Risk Rating Section of the Supporting Memorandum and given of his time and energy to both the API and various firms to assist in the review.
In his duties at HTW, one of Mr Turner’s roles is to develop organisation wide capabilities in risk management so as to provide a framework for management to effectively deal with uncertainty and associated loss and opportunity.
He is a Member of the Golden Key National Honour Society – Queensland University of Technology Chapter. Membership is by invitation only to the top 15% of Bachelor degree students and he is an honorary Fellow of QUT and continues to lecture at QUT on Risk Management.
The API’s Excellence in Property Award judges noted that Jevon has certainly made an outstanding contribution to his organisation and the property industry.
